Why Donate to FECAPS?

Welcome to the Fair Employment for Cancer Patients & Survivors (FECAPS)
Donation Page.
Please click on our Home Page for more information about our organization's mission and background.

FECAPS is not a non-profit organization.  How does that affect a charitable tax deduction for you? The bad news is that we can't offer deductions for our donor's contributions.  The good news is that we can lobby our government on behalf of our cause, and also support political candidates who believe what we believe in. But tax-exempt non-profit status under the IRS Tax Code prohibits both political and legislative activism, which is the "catch" in being a non-profit.

Not being a non-profit, we also cannot avail our organization of grants from other large charitable foundations.

So we must rely on donations that are not tax-deductible for our supporters.  Is that such a bad thing?  Do you mind not getting, let's say, 28% of a $100 deductible donation ($28), which really translates to some fraction of that as an actual write-off from your taxable income (not a bottom line credit; just a very small reduction of the amount of your income that is taxed)?

Please consider us when you feel the need to donate to a cancer support group.  Support of cancer patients who are dealing with workplace issues while struggling to overcome their illness, including support of cancer survivors who must live with the daily anxiety that their condition may someday come back, is what we do.  Losing their jobs and health insurance while they have or have survived this awful affliction is, like cancer, not something they or anyone deserves in this life.

This year's SuperBowl entertained us with $3 million per minute commercials.  A large institutional charity ran its own spot for its 60 seconds of fame. They and others like them do great work, but do they really need more of your money?  Instead, help us help our stakeholders...those who may not even know that they have remedies under the law.  Please think about contributing to FECAPS so we can do our work!

Below is a PayPal Donation Button.  If you have either a PayPal account OR a credit or debit card of any kind, you can donate to us online (if you choose to click on the PayPal Donations button, and you want to donate by using your credit or debit card, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of that page for your choices).  If you prefer, we do accept personal checks or money orders (please contact us for mailing instructions--click on the Contact Us link on the upper left of this screen).

If you donate online and would like to give "in honor of" or "in memory of" a particular person, please send us his or her name (email: Contact Us--be sure and mention the date and amount of your online donation).  If you send a check or money order by regular mail, include a note with that information.

Either way, you can also include the name and address of any person you would like notified of your generous gift to FECAPS.  We will promptly mail the notification to him or her.

Thankyou in advance for your help. You will be assisting someone who has or has had cancer, and is wondering where their next paycheck or insurance coverage will come from...

Working It Out: Your Employment Rights As A Cancer Survivor
Written by Barbara Hoffman, JD; 22 pages.

"Unfortunately, many cancer survivors experience workplace discrimination. In fact, one survey found that American workers with cancer are fired or laid off five times as often as other workers. This book addresses the employment challenges that many survivors face and offers advice and resources to address those challenges."

After you make your donation, be sure and send us an email (see CONTACT US link)
with your name, mailing address, and the date & amount you donated.
We'll send the booklet right out.
